Benefits of deliverable

Modernized code from ASP Classic to ASP .NET 2.0 for better browser compatibility.

Use of modern technologies will allow for easier maintenance and enhancements.

Use of out-of-the box .NET validation controls for rapid development and to perform client- as well as server-side validation instead of writing custom validation functions.

Conversion of page specific inline-styles in separate CSS classes to create consistency across all pages.

Creation of generic user controls which can be reused on different .ASPX pages.

Creation of a re-usable component to access and manage database connections.

FD handling the web-portal upgrades allowed the ClaimSecure development team to focus on innovative, priority projects.

Solution details

FD Solutions was engaged by ClaimSecure to prepare a roadmap for the conversion of ASP Classic modules to ASP .NET 2.0 and then execute the work required to complete the conversions. This task required the FD team to work with the ClaimSecure development team to identify components that required upgrades, and to coordinate the development and deployment efforts to align with ClaimSecure's internal initiatives.

As part of the engagement, FD developers were responsible for:

  • Converting the User Interface portion of the ASP pages while maintaining existing client specific themes.
  • Creating consistency across all pages and ensuring pages rendered properly in all modern browsers.
  • Converting client-side JavaScript and creating a JavaScript object model with common functionalities for re-use across all pages.
  • Converting business and data access logic to VB.NET and developing a re-usable component to access and manage database connections.
  • Commenting code developed by FD to assist with future code review, maintenance, and enhancements.

By updating its web technology to ASP .NET 2.0, the ClaimSecure web development team is able to more efficiently and effectively incorporate new offerings and future changes to their existing applications.
